Let's make some noise!

It's the weekend, and there's no better way to party than to make some good noise with a rattle.

And... when the fun of that is all used up, it tastes pretty darned good too.

Happy Easter

Owen had his first Easter, his first easter outfit, and his first easter bunny from his Great Aunt Karen.

Down side up...

The little guy wiggled around so much that he ended up dangling into some sort of bizarro realm where up is down and down is up. Luckily, he still had some fingers available to stave off the hunger that is abundant in downsideupland.

PKU update

The first four months of PKU are going quite well. Owen's management plan seems to be working. He's been at the same level of formula for quite a while, and other than a few spikes of PHE levels, he's been very low. So, the plan is to keep doing what we're doing. The spikes are expected, and are usually associated with non-diet stresses.

So, here's the official numbers. 12 pounds, 14 ounces. 25 inches tall. And a cute factor of 11, out of a possible 10.

At the appointment, we talked a bit about the introduction of solid foods. At first, we get to use the normal rice cereal that any kiddo would get, and we get to see how that makes his PHE levels react. After we get a bit of an idea of how he responds to the natural food, we can then look at a no-pro rice cereal replacement. But, once solids start, we get to begin food weighing and PHE counting in earnest.

So, no solid foods yet. We're probably looking at the 6 month range for that... if not a little later. There's no real rush...

The strawberry? In the main lobby at Dorenbecher, there are large brass fruit statues that just beg for a baby photo. We'll try to get a new photo with each visit.

I'm not sure why we haven't tried this yet... it was Owen's first time up on the shoulders. He seemed to enjoy it quite a bit.

Baby party 3

It's only the 3rd baby party and we're already losing one of the clan. Aaron is moving out east, so this was a farewell baby party. (Aaron is 2nd from the right in the blue shirt.)

The excuse

Here's the excuse for not posting much on the blog. Dad was scouting for good ski areas for Owen when he starts to hit the backcountry. This is the top of Paulina Peak, in Newberry Crater near Bend.

It's been a while. Dad, the guy who posts these pics, has been a bit busy.

So, thanks to Grandma, here's a morsel to tide y'all over.

Dad was out of town last weekend, so Mom and Owen stayed with Grandma and Grandpa. With weather in the low 70s, Owen decided he needed some outside time. Luckily, Grandpa was happy to help.
